Taxi cabs, pizza, and the city that never sleeps, New York City has captured the hearts of millions and I can see why! The views are amazing, the people watching is endless, and there is not a minute to spare for boredom! Sure the streets are cluttered and the sidewalks are a little dirty, but there is so much art and culture in this city that the air is lingering with people’s dreams! It still amazes me that I will find myself in Times Square on a Friday night and get to call it work!
I have been slacking a little on my layover recaps, so here is a bit of backtracking from my previous trips to New York City!
First of all, the view of the city is amazing! Seeing New York City from the top of a skyscraper should be on everyone’s bucket list! You can always research and find tickets for the Rockefeller Center or the Empire State building, but if you want a little less of a crowd and a more authentic view, I encourage you to venture around on your own and find the new hotspot!
Obviously Central Park needs to be on your list of stops during a visit to New York. Out of all the places that I have been, I feel like this park is one that truly lives up to its hype! The park stretches out forever and is a perfect little escape in the middle of the concrete jungle!
A couple little other hotspots to see while you are walking around the city are the Grand Central Station, Serendipity, and if you have a sweet tooth and were always a giant fan of Willy Wonka’s likable wallpaper, you will have to check out Dylan’s Candy bar!
Central Station is unlike any other train station that I have been in! There is still so much glamor in the architecture and the bustling from the crowd will give you a buzz of energy that makes you feel hopeful for future adventures of your own!
Serendipity is a little hole-in-the-wall looking place that is covered in pink, glitter, and what looks to be the remains of a tacky old lady’s house, but in what other atmosphere would you expect to find the world’s best frozen hot chocolate?!
&even though these floors might be cute enough to eat, I’d advice trying to sneak a lick while walking around Dylan’s Candy Bar! You will find over priced, but unique flavors of all candy here and the best part is in the packaging! Everything in this candy store will catch your eye and anything in here will be an excellent gift to bring back for the people at home!
Then there is always my favorite part to a trip to New York City, and that is seeing a Broadway play in the heart of Downtown and wondering around Times Square! There is never a dull moment here and I have dragged my crew members out a few times to see a play with me, even when it is pouring rain! I will never know exactly what it is that makes this place so special, but what I do know, is Delta can feel free to give me a couple more long overnights here because there is always something new to see!
